The Kalispel Language and Culture Alliance (KLCA) is dedicated to bringing the Kalispel language back to daily life. By creating immersive language spaces, schools, and innovative tools, we are nurturing a new generation of fluent speakers and passionate teachers. Research confirms what our ancestors have always known: Native languages are vital to health, wellness, and academic success.
Our initiative is rooted in the wisdom of our Elders, ensuring that their knowledge is preserved and passed on in the language of our ancestors. Guided by our heritage, we are committed to adapting to the present and shaping a brighter future for our community.
The KLCA connects us to our land, culture, and each other, strengthening not just the Kalispel people but also our surrounding communities. Together, we are building a legacy where language and tradition thrive, ensuring that future generations carry forward the pride and resilience of the Kalispel people.
While the past two centuries have brought many challenges, they are but a blink in the long history of the Kalispel people. With hope and determination, we look ahead to a future that is bright—not only for our Tribe but also for the non-Tribal communities we share this land with.
